With promises of employment and marriage, a man was arrested in Oman after he lured 56 women into sending him revealing photos, to use them later to blackmail his victims.

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) said that the accused created a fake social media account claiming he is the head of employment department at an aviation company.

After asking his victims to send their CVs and pictures, he goes on to lure them into sending more revealing images to blackmail them later.

Legal actions are being taken against the accused, the ROP said in a tweet on Monday.

ROP calls upon social media users to be careful and vigilant when dealing with strangers online, and only communicate with verified official accounts.

They also stressed that employment can only be done through legal and official means within the companies.
