Prominent Omani surgeon retires at the age of 70

The Royal Hospital bid farewell today to one of its most prominent faces.

In 1995, the late His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said awarded him the Medal of Distinction 

Dr Salim Al Busaidi, Head of Surgery Department has retired at the age of 70 after a long career in which he saved thousands of lives and trained hundreds of doctors.

Al Busaidi finished school in the United Kingdom and got his MD from the University of Liverpool.

He later finished his Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons in Scotland in 1979.

A graduate of Saint Herst Military Royal Academy, Al Busaidi served Oman’s public sector for nearly 40 years.
