The Public Authority for Civil Aviation’s (PACA) Directorate General of Meteorology has confirmed that the direct effects of the tropical low-pressure system in Dhofar Governorate have now ended.
In a statement issued online today [Tuesday, June 2], PACA confirmed that the update is as per the National Multi Hazards Early Warning Center, though isolated thundershowers and rain, along with rough seas, could continue into today as indirect effects of the depression still linger.
Dhofar Governorate has been inundated with between 100-200 mm of rain per day since Friday [May 29], which led to mass flooding of wadis and low-lying areas, and damage to roads and property.
Emergency teams from the Public Authority for Civil Defense and Ambulance and the Royal Oman Police have been on the ground in the region since the weather front began, conducting rescue operations and helping to mitigate damages.
