During a press conference that was held today, in the presence of Sheikh Rashid bin Ahmed Al Shamsi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development, Charity organization Dar Al Atta’a announced that it received OMR 1 million in donations from citizens and residents, to fund a housing unit it is planning to build for those who lost their homes during Cyclone Shaheen in Al Batinah.
The organization added that Bank Dhofar also contributed to their project with a donation of 500,000 Omani rials, and according to officials from the organization, a total of 30 housing units will be built. A portion of the money will also be used to renovate damaged homes.
Other than the financial support that Dar Al Atta’a had provided during the relief efforts, the organization said it also helped in cleaning, renovating, and distribution of resources.
General Manager of Dar Al Atta’a Shamsa Al Harthi also discussed the importance of lending psychological support to the affected individuals, and the use of art therapy.
