OQ8, a joint venture between OQ and Kuwait Petroleum International (Q8) announced its participation in the ongoing Oman Sustainability Week, which is taking place from April 28 to May 2. The event mainly aims to promote sustainable living and environmental awareness, and it will feature OQ8’s latest initiatives in renewable energy, water treatment, and biodiversity.
“Oman Sustainability Week is a vital platform for us to showcase our commitment to sustainable development and share our latest innovations with the global community,” said Yaqoob Al Rabaani, VP of HSSE at OQ8. “We are particularly excited to present our sustainable advancement across our operations that not only reduce environmental impact but also underscore our commitment to preserving our planet for future generations.”
OQ8’s initiatives include interactive presentations on zero flaring practices, solar power advancements, and the revolutionary impact of its wastewater treatment facilities. The company will also host daily discussions at their booth, on topics ranging from OQ8’s most impactful projects to talks with sustainability experts for stake holders to engage with.
OQ8 has also launched a community-wide tree planting initiative during the event, as a sign of the company’s belief in active participation from corporations and individuals alike in achieving sustainability goals.
“We are not just an energy company; we are a catalyst for change in the industry,” said Jasim Al Ajmi, Vice President of Corporate Affairs at OQ8. “Our diverse presentations and insights at our booth will showcase this leadership. Furthermore, we encourage both corporations and individuals to join our sustainability pledge. For each pledge, we will plant a sapling, aiming to cultivate a forest of 500 saplings after the event.”
