Mays Motors launched Oman’s first electric car on Sunday.The car is called Mays iE1, and it was funded by the Oman Technology Fund.
Mays iE1 is priced at OMR 25,000, and it can accelerate from zero to 100 km/hr in 4.9 seconds, with a maximum speed of 280 km/hr. The vehicle can cover a distance of 500 km on a single charge, and the body of the car is completely built from carbon fibre.
Officials said that bookings for the first 100 vehicles have already been completed, adding that the company expects to produce 300 cars as part of its first batch, and 600 cars over a five-year period.
