According to a senior official at the Ministry of Health, Oman has signed agreements to receive over 5.5 million Coronavirus vaccine doses, which is enough to vaccinate around 60% of the population.
The Sultanate has stepped up efforts to negotiate with vaccine manufacturers and ensure that they comply with their contractual obligations, as some have breached agreements before.
The country has so far received 254,740 vaccine doses from both Pfizer and AstraZeneca, and is expected to receive 211,530 more this month from both manufacturers.
The Sultanate will import around 550,000 doses in May, and 1.7 million doses in June. Negotiations are also underway for an additional 1 million doses of Pfizer to arrive in batches between the months of July and September.
