Oman: ROP seize 50kg of crystal meth in Sharqiyah drug bust

Royal Oman Police (ROP) have made a sizeable seizure of contraband in a drug bust that took place in South Ash Sharqiyah Governorate today [Monday, September 7].

In a statement issued online, ROP authorities said that: “The Department of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, under the leadership of the South Ash Sharqiyah Governorate Police, seized a person of Asian nationality for smuggling and possession of an amount of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.”

A total of 50kg of crystal methamphetamine was found in the alleged accused’s possession, and ROP officials have confirmed that the suspect was working “in conjunction with international gangs for the purposes of trafficking and abuse.”

Anyone with any information pertaining to drug dealing or smuggling activities is encouraged by the ROP to report such activity to the Hotline of the General Administration for Combating Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (1444), or by going to the nearest police station.
