Speaking to Merge 104.8 today, a source at the ROP clarified that: “Express and visit visas can be extended through the ROP website’s electronic visa page starting from July 1, without the need of visiting an ROP service centre.”

ROP authorities announced last week that all service centres across the country would re-open amid COVID-19 precautions from July 1, with traffic, residence, passport, and civil status services operating as per usual.

For visitors in Oman who have been stranded in the Sultanate in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent airport closures, the move to process applications online will help facilitate ease of renewal of expired visas.

Previously the ROP had announced that all visit and express visas would have their validities automatically extended until June 30, 2020 — prior to the announcement of the re-opening of service centres.

Holders of express or visit visas who wish to renew them online will be subject to regular processing fees for the extension.
