Oman reports 3 new COVID-19 fatalities Thursday

Oman’s Ministry of Health (MoH) has indicated that the number of COVID-19 deaths in the Sultanate has risen by 3 new fatalities.

Today [Thursday, June 18], in its daily statement announcing the registration of new COVID-19 cases in Oman, the MoH also noted that the number of COVID-19-related deaths now stands at 119.

As of today, 739 new cases of the novel coronavirus have been registered by health authorities, bringing the overall total in the country to 26,818, with 13,264 recoveries also recorded.

The MoH has also confirmed that 378 patients with COVID-19 are currently admitted to hospital in Oman, with 103 of those patients in intensive care.

Recent data released by the Ministry on Tuesday [June 16] on the breakdown of the COVID-19 fatality rate thus far in the Sultanate by age group shows that, while the highest fatality rate is among the 60-69 age demographic with 27 deaths recorded as of Tuesday, cumulatively, younger age categories make up more than half of total fatalities.

As per the data, there have been 5 deaths recorded in patients between the ages of 20-29, 19 among those ages 30-39, 21 among those ages 40-49, and 20 in the 50-59 age category.
