Efforts by countries worldwide to repatriate their stranded nationals abroad amid the COVID-19 pandemic, has led to a mass exodus of expats from the GCC.
Today [Thursday, June 18], two more repatriation flights are set to depart from Muscat International Airport bound for Egypt and India.
SalamAir is set to operate a special round-trip flight from Oman to Alexandria, Egypt today, with an announcement urging passengers wishing to avail a seat on the flight issued online Tuesday [June 16].
The Indian Embassy in Oman has also confirmed that check-in proceedings are currently underway for Air India Express flight IX 1554 carrying stranded nationals from Muscat to Trivandrum, Kerala.
The flight falls under the Indian government’s Vande Bharat mission to repatriate its nationals abroad, with 23 departures from Oman scheduled between June 9-30 as part of Phase 2++ of the mission.
