Oman records 1,605 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday in highest daily spike yet

Oman’s Ministry of Health (MoH) has announced the registration of 1,605 new cases of COVID-19 novel coronavirus — the highest daily spike in new cases to date.

In a statement issued online today [Monday, June 22], the MoH has confirmed that the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 31,076.

Of the 1,605 new cases announced today, 684 are among Omani citizens and 921 are among non-Omani residents. The number of new COVID-19 recoveries announced today is 856, bringing the total number of recoveries in the Sultanate to 16,408.

The MoH has also confirmed that the number of COVID-19 fatalities now stands at 137, while the number of coronavirus patients hospitalized in Oman has risen to 407, with 100 in ICU.

A total of 4,544 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the country in the last 24 hours.
