Restaurants in Muscat Governorate will no longer need to pay the 5 per cent municipal fees incurred from March 19, 2020 to August 31, 2020, according to a recent decision by Muscat Municipality.

In a statement issued online, the Municipality has reduced a number of fees from restaurants, coffee shops, and other business establishments in an effort to support them during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has had an unprecedented economic impact on different businesses.

Moreover, commercial institutions will not have to pay their license renewal fees and fines from the period between March 19, 2020 to August 31, 2020.

Businesses in Muscat that have been affected by Oman’s pandemic-related decisions will also be spared from paying expired lease contracts, according to the decision.

In its statement, Muscat Municipality has called upon businesses who qualify for such privileges to contact the Municipality through its hotline 1111.
