Oman: Islamic New Year Holiday Announced

Sunday [August 23] is a public holiday for all public and private sector employees. The moon sighting committee in Oman announced that the moon was not sighted on Wednesday night [August 19], therefore the first day of the new Islamic Year will fall on Friday [August 21].

The holiday, as Merge 104.8’s sister station Al Wisal reports, will be compensated and will fall on Sunday [August 23], the third day of Muharram 1442.
