As Oman News Agency (ONA) reports, Eng. Ali bin Issa Shamas, CEO of Dhofar Power Company, has confirmed that electricity has been restored to the areas affected by the tropical situation with the exception of a few parts — such as low-voltage breakdowns for homes — and work is underway to fix them.

As per ONA, he stated:” Since the announcement of the tropical situation in the Governorate of Dhofar, the emergency plan has been activated and the technical teams were distributed to the regions in advance to ensure ease of movement with the entire equipment and technical tools. The teams of Dhofar Power Company and contracting companies have restored the electricity to the affected areas. The efficiency ratio of the electrical network during the tropical depression was approximately 91.5 per cent due to some interruptions in a group of distribution feeders.”

He explained that the total faults at the network level reached approximately 8.5 per cent — most of them in the eastern side of the governorate due to the amount of heavy rain — as the electrical network demonstrated high efficiency in such exceptional circumstances.

He added that during the tropical situation, the company received more than 4,800 reports of breakdowns through the company’s call centre, most of which were low-voltage reports at the household level. He added that those breakdowns were dealt with immediately and the current was restored to all of them.

He pointed out that the most affected areas of the network were in the Wilayats of Mirbat and Sadah, and all of them were restored, save for a few parts that are being worked on.
