In a press release issued to media today [Monday, July 20], the Royal Hospital stated that the patient had presented with an increased heart rate which made conducting the procedure extremely challenging, as the veins carrying blood to his heart were not functioning properly as a result of the malformation and, also, from previous operations.

To perform this life-saving operation, the medical team at the Royal Hospital had to facilitate the catheterization process of this unique procedure through the patient’s aorta.
