Oman: Child suffering from COVID-19 with pulmonary failure makes remarkable recovery

A child admitted to Rustaq Hospital in South Al Batinah Governorate suffering from COVID-19 with pulmonary failure has made an unprecedented recovery, hospital authorities have announced.

In a statement issued online today [Tuesday, September 1], Rustaq Hospital said: “In a distinguished medical precedent, a medical team in the COVID-19 ICU under the leadership of Dr. Ahmed Al-Farsi, have successfully treated a child who was also diagnosed with acute respiratory distress syndrome. This is the first recovery case in the Sultanate of a child with COVID-19-related pulmonary failure.”

There are currently 85,928 confirmed cases of coronavirus registered in Oman, with the Ministry of Health recording 206 new cases and four deaths on Tuesday.
