Oman and Saudi Arabia Issued a Joint Statement Following HM Sultan Haitham’s Historic Visit

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik accepted King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud’s invitation to visit Saudi Arabia earlier this week. During the Sultan’s historic two-day visit, several issues to do with increased cooperation between the two nations were brought up, including:
- Speeding up the completion of the Saudi-Oman road, in order to ease trade routes and pave the way for a full economic integration between the two nations.
- Signing an MoU on the establishment of an Omani-Saudi Council.
- Ending the war in Yemen. Both sides expressed that they share similar views on the crisis, adding that together, they will look for a solution to end it.
- Forming a cooperation towards adopting the G20’s “Circular Carbon Economy” approach, which aims to manage challenges arising from greenhouse gas emissions.
- Improving economic ties by encouraging government and private sectors to make meaningful investment exchanges.
