His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and Jordan’s King Abdullah issued a joint statement, following a meeting that was held at Nadwa Palace earlier this morning. In the statement, the two leaders stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields, and in implementing the existing agreements that were signed between their countries.
They also reaffirmed the importance of reaching a just solution that will end the Israeli occupation of Palestine, and they welcomed the decisions of Ireland, Spain and Norway to recognize the Palestinian state.
They added that achieving a two-state solution with the 1967 borders and East Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital, is the only way to achieve lasting peace in the region.
They also condemned the attempts that were made to separate Gaza from the occupied west bank, as well as the terrorist settler attacks on Palestinians and humanitarian aid convoys.
Finally, they also stressed on the necessity of continuing to fund UNRWA, and the importance of the UN Security Council imposing an immediate ceasefire, protecting civilians, delivering humanitarian aid, and preventing further escalation.
