The Ministry of Labour (MoL) announced that expat workers who have passed the age of 60, and still want to continue working in Oman, will be allowed to do so.

Under the previous law, expats over 60 years of age could not get their resident cards renewed, and a spokesperson from the ministry said that this law was changed, in order to attract foreigners to continue living and working in Oman beyond their retirement age.

Non-Omani retirees will now be able to obtain a five-year renewable visa if they are 60 years old and above, by providing proof of work in Oman with employment of a minimum of two years and six months, and a bank statement showing a monthly income of at least OMR 4,000.
