Merge 104.8  |  23 March 2021

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) released updated guidelines regarding the mandatory institutional isolation of incoming travelers on Tuesday.

According to the CAA, all travelers arriving into the Sultanate, starting from 2 PM on March 29th, 2021, will have to book their hotel and institutional isolation accommodation via the Sahala platform, which can be found on the following link https://covid19.emushrif.om/

Airlines operating flights to Oman are responsible for ensuring that passengers are holding a confirmed booking via the Sahala platform.

The following categories are exempted from presenting a pre-confirmed booking at the airport of departure:

  • Diplomats working at foreign diplomatic missions accredited to the Sultanate and their families and other visiting diplomats.
  • Aircrew members, subject to precautionary measures issued by the MoH.
  • Arrivals aged 18 and younger, if travelling alone
  • Arrivals aged 60 and above.
  • Sick passengers whose health conditions require special attention. The exception includes two companions if the sick passenger is a female or below the age of 18, and only one companion if the passenger is male and above the age of 18.
  • Holders of permits for private institutional isolation centers that are pre-approved by the Relief & Shelter Sector
  • Sea crew members on Omani territory. Airlines must ensure that there is a hotel booking covering the duration of their stay in Oman based on the letter of the shipping agent.
