The National Committee for Emergency Management (NCEM) called on a number of governorates to prepare for the impending tropical situation, to minimize the potentially hazardous effects on citizens and residents.

Oman Meteorology issued a weather alert saying that there is a chance that the tropical depression might dissipate near Pakistan-Iran coasts.

The heaviest impacts are expected in North al Sharqiyah, South al Sharqiyah and Muscat, and as a precaution, the NCEM formed sub-committees in each of these governorates.

It also called for the public to fill their vehicle tanks with petrol, avoid crossing wadis or driving in unsafe roads, refrain from leaving their homes for anything other than emergency cases, and to cooperate in case they are requested to evacuate a location.

The expected effects include heavy rains, winds with speeds of up to 27 knots, and high tides, and they are expected to start to gradually affect the country today, and continue on for the next three days.

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology also made preparations for the upcoming tropical depression, by notifying port operators, shipping companies, maritime and logistics service providers, and marine unit owners to enable response plans, be cautious, and keep an eye on the weather report.

Also in anticipation of the weather conditions, Mwasalat announced that it has suspended the bus services today and tomorrow, for Route 36 (Muscat- Sur – Jalan Bani Bu Ali), and rescheduled ferries services for the Route (Shinas – Dibba – Lima).
