Oman’s Central Market for Fruits and Vegetables in Al Mawaleh will undergo a partial closure of certain areas effective today [Monday, May 18], Muscat Municipality has announced.

In a statement issued online on Sunday, May 17, municipal authorities said that the decision comes in an effort to combat the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, with the following measures drafted in conjunction with the Ministry of Health.
As of today, until further notice, the retail business section of the market will be closed, with wholesale trading only permitted between 4:00 a.m. till 10:00 a.m. daily.
In its statement, Muscat Municipality praised the application of preventive measures within the community that have led to a reduction in the spread of COVID-19 and have helped to protect the public.
