The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP), said that it will start implementing Ministerial Decision 386/2022 from today. The decision was first announced on April 17th, and it said that eight business categories will be obligated to provide e-payment options, adding that those who fail to do so will be penalized.

The categories include establishments and commercial companies selling, foodstuff, gold and silver, restaurants and cafes, vegetables and fruits, electronics, building materials, tobacco products, and activities in industrial zones, complexes, malls, and gift markets.

The Ministry reaffirmed that customers who wish to pay in cash will still be allowed to do so, adding that they should have the option to choose between electronic or cash payments.
