As part of its preparation for the gradual return of tourism activities, Oman’s Ministry of Tourism has issued a set of guidelines and regulations to hotels in an effort to control the spread of COVID-19 and protect staff and guests.

Adherence to the following rules will be monitored by a number of authorities, including the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Manpower, regional municipalities, the Royal Oman Police, and the Public Authority for Civil Defense and Ambulance.

The new regulations will require people to wear face-masks while entering a hotel, with the hotel management required to provide masks and sanitizing equipment for all guests.

Valet parking will only be available for guests with disabilities, while following protective health measures.

Seating areas in the reception will be marked to maintain distance between visitors, and all equipment including ATM machines and reception desks shall be sanitized after use.

All leaflets and paper promotions will be removed from all hotel rooms, and rooms shall remain vacant for at least 24 hours after a guest leaves to ensure thorough cleaning and sanitizing, after which the room will be inspected for approval by hotel management.

Glass or ceramic-made cups and plates will be replaced with one-time use plates, while all toiletry amenities (toilet paper, toothbrushes, etc..) will be disposed of and destroyed after the guest leaves.

Other services including ballrooms and conference rooms, swimming pools, and gyms shall remain closed, but restaurants will be permitted to re-open under strict health regulations and social distancing measures.
