The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion announced that commercial establishments in Oman no longer need permssion from the ministry to run promotions and offers. This decision was made in collaboration with the Consumer Protection Authority, in order to enhance market competativeness and provide products at reasonable prices.
The ministry did say however, that discounts and offers should not exceed 3 consecutive days in a week, that they should not be offered more than three times a month and that the maximum amount of discount is 30%.
