The Minister of Labour, Dr. Mahad bin Said bin Ali Ba’owain, issued a Ministerial Resolution today, allowing citizens who are GED students enrolled in public or private schools and are 15 years old and older, to hold part-time jobs, provided that they choose jobs that are listed by the Ministry of Manpower.
According to the new law, the employment can only take place during post-semester exam breaks, and with the parents’ approval. The resolution added that wages and working hours of the employees will be determined by both parties through a contract.
