Speaking at a function organized by Al-Sharqiyah University on Thursday, the Minister of Health His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saeedi said that the government has booked 2.5 million COVID-19 vaccine doses at a high price.

He also said that a contract that was signed with the Russian Sputnik-V vaccine earlier did not materialize, not due to the lack of finances, but due the inability of companies to produce enough vaccines and the monopoly by some countries.

He added that the Russian ambassador was present at the ministry yesterday and that the Foreign Ministry is in dialogue with the Russian government to obtain over 100,000 doses of the Russian Vaccine.
