A power outage hit most of the country earlier today, and Nama Group announced that the outage was caused by a technical failure in one of the transmission lines of the network.

The Public Services Regulatory Authority in Oman announced that the power supply is gradually being returned to parts of Muscat, including Al Mabilah, Sur Al Hadid, Al Khoudh, Al Azaibah, Airport Heights and Al Rusail. In North Al Sharqiyah power was restored to Sinaw, Al Mudhaibi, and Al Qabil, and in Al Dakhiliyah, power was restored to Adam.

Officials added that work is being done to restore power to the remaining areas.

The outage affected multiple operations in the country, including those at Muscat International Airport, and Oman Airports issued a statement saying that operations are running according to the flight schedules for the day.

Officials confirmed that most health institutions and hospitals across the country are all working on back-up generators.
