The Supreme Committee for Combatting COVID-19 met on Thursday (24 September) to update the public about public transportation and the aviation sector in Oman.
The meeting was attended by H.E Dr Ahmed Al Saidi, Minister of Health, H.E Saeed Al Mawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information, and Dr Mohammed Al Zaabi, President of Civil Aviation Authority.
H.E Saeed Al Mawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information said that starting from 1st of October, Omanis and expats will be allowed to travel from the Sultanate without any required approval. However, expats coming to Oman will require having a valid health insurance that cover COVID-19 for at least a month.
Flights from Muscat to Salalah will also resume starting from 1st of October.
He explained that intercity routes for public transportation will resume starting from 27 September and on 4th of October for routes within Muscat Governorates.
Dr Mohammed Al Zaabi, President of Civil Aviation Authority said that Oman has operated 3,882 flights that carried more than 680,000 passengers during the pandemic.
The minister of health said that all visitors to the Sultanate will have to be quarantined for 14 days.
