The ruling bans leaving animals to roam or graze in residential areas or, within 1 km or less from highways and main roads, or half a kilometre from sub-roads.

Violators will be fined OMR 100 per day for each camel or horse, OMR 50 daily for each cow, and OMR 30 per day for an unattended lamb or other livestock.

The municipality will take care of any lost animal, including providing medical care if needed until the animal’s owner is located. Once found, the owner will face the charges listed above. If the owner of the animal has not been found and contacted within five days, the animal will be sold at public auction.

In addition to the above-mentioned fines, animal owners will be subject to the following care-taking service charges on behalf of the municipality.

OMR 150 daily per camel/horse
OMR 50 daily per cow
OMR 10 daily per lamb/sheep and other livestock
