HM the Sultan Declares January 11th to be New Annual Holiday

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik issued two Royal Decrees.

The first one states that official holidays will be on fixed dates, for both the public and private sectors. The dates are:

  • Hijri New Year on Muharram 1st
  • The Prophet’s (PBUH) Birthday on Rabee Al Awwal 12
  • Al Isra’a Wal Miraj on Rajab 27
  • Omani National Day on November 18th and 19th
  • His Majesty’s Accession Day on January 11th

If any of the days off coincide with the weekends, they it will be compensated by a single day. The dates of the holidays may also be changed, if it is deemed best for the public’s interest.

For the Eid holidays:

  • Eid Al Fitr starts from the 29th of Ramadan until the 3rd day of Shawwal
  • Eid Al Adha starts from the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah until the 12th of Dhul-Hijjah.

If the first day of any of the Eid holidays coincide with a Friday, then that day will be compensated.

The second Royal Decree ratifies a cooperation agreement between Oman and Bahrain, that was signed in the security field, back in October 24th, 2022.
