It has been confirmed that His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said has been chosen as the new ruler of Oman. The former culture minister was sworn in before the ruling family council today.
Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq Al Said took the oath on Saturday morning before the Council of Oman as the new Sultan of Oman, according to state media.
The inaugration ceremony took place at Al Bustan palace before the funeral of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said.
Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq Al Said was previously the minister of heritage and national culture, and cousin to the late Sultan Qaboos.
