His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received the President of Zanzibar, Dr Hussein Ali Mwiniyi, at Al Barakah Palace.
The meeting, which took place earlier today, covered a number of issues, mainly related to the areas of cooperation between Oman and Zanzibar, and the efforts that are being made to promote them.
The President arrived in the country yesterday, and he was welcomed at Muscat International Airport by the Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, His Highness Sayyid Asaad bin Tarik al Said.
His visit is expected to last several days, and he has so far, met with the Sultanate’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Bader bin Hamad al Busaidi. During their meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance relations between their two countries, mainly in the fields of trade, investment and culture.
The President was also given a tour of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, where he was shown the Institute of Islamic Sciences, the library, and the lecture hall.
