His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik received the King of the Belgians, King Phillippe Leopold Louis Marie, and his wife the Queen of the Belgians, Queen Mathilde Marie Christine Ghislaine d’Udekem d’Acoz, at Al Alam Palace, who arrived in Oman yesterday, for a three-day visit.
A special welcome ceremony was held for the Royals and their accompanying delegation at Al Alam Palace, and upon their arrival, they were received at the Royal Airport by several ministers, including the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham al Said, the Foreign Minister, Sayyid Bader bin Hamad al Busaidi.
His Majesty the Sultan held official talks with the Royals today, and according to reports, the two sides are set to discuss areas of cooperation that would serve the common interests of both nations.
In an interview that was held with Merge FM’s sister station Wisal FM, the Honorary Consul of Belgium, Reggy Vermeulen, said that the Royals will be accompanied by 40 prominent Belgian businessmen, with the hope of encouraging them to invest in Oman, as well as members from the Belgian Press, in an effort to help promote the Sultanate as both, a tourist and investment destination.
