His Majesty Ordered For Over 32,000 Jobs To Be Created For Omanis This Year

The Omani government announced that over 32,000 jobs will be created for Omanis this year, including 12,000 jobs in the government’s civil and military establishments. Also, His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik issued several Royal directives to support job seekers and workers whose services were terminated during the current economic circumstances, which were made worse with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • 2,000 temporary contract employment opportunities will be generated in the government sector, based on the actual needs of government establishments across the Sultanate.
  • One million hours of part-time work will be generated in government establishments across Oman. The Ministry of Labour will announce further details on this soon.
  • Wages of as many as 15,000 fresh employees in the private sector will be subsidized by providing OMR 200 towards their monthly wages (with the rest to be borne by the employers). The Ministry of Labour will announce further details on this soon.
  • A cut-off monthly assistance worth OMR 202.5 will be provided from the Job Security Fund (JSF) for a period of six months, to self-employed Omanis insured at the Public Authority for Social Insurance whose businesses were negatively impacted by the economic situation, and to those of similar standing. This will benefit a total of 15,000 citizens.
  • A cut-off monthly assistance worth OMR 202.5 will also be provided from the JSF for a period of six months, to Omani workers whose services were terminated in GCC states.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik ordered the concerned authorities to hasten the implementation of these employment initiatives and reaffirmed that the issue of the employment of Omani youth is one of the nation’s top priorities.
