Highlights from Today’s Supreme Committee Press Conference

The Supreme Comittee held a press conference today, to discuss the recently announced COVID-19 restrictions, and other COVID-related updates. The decisions include restricting Taraweeh prayers to vaccinated individuals, including those under the age of 12, banning charity Ramadan iftar tents, and implementing social distancing measures in mosques.
Here are some of the highlights of the meeting:
- Omani citizens will, once again, be allowed to travel through GCC land borders using their Civil ID.
- Vaccines for children to arrive in Oman during the first half of this year.
- 96% of Oman’s population are fully vaccinated, but only 10% of Omani citizens took the booster dose.
- No serious side effects have been witnessed in those who have taken the COVID-19 vaccine, and the vaccine has not been linked to any heart diseases.
- 17 people were affected with Dengue fever in Wilayat Bausher, seven in Wilayat Seeb, and two in Wilayat Al Amerat.
- PCR test no longer required for entry to Oman. Showing proof of having received two doses of a COVID-19 vaccination, will however be required.
- There has been a shortage in medicine and medical equipment during the pandemic, but the stock that is available in the Sultanate, is available to continue to save lives.
