Qatar’s Government Communications Office (GCO) said it has relaxed restrictions aimed at controlling COVID-19 in the country, allowing citizens and permanent residency holders to travel outside the country and return at any time. Residents who are currently outside the country, will also be able to return to Qatar starting August 1.

In a statement shared on Wednesday [July 22], the government said arrivals from low-risk countries are required to take a coronavirus test at the airport and sign a formal pledge to adhere to quarantine at home for a week.

The GCO has stated that the list of low-risk countries will be published on the Ministry of Public Health’s website, and will be reviewed every two weeks.

Travelers from low-risk countries who have obtained COVID-free certificates from an accredited testing centre within 48 hours of traveling will not be required to take a test at the airport upon arrival in Qatar.
