Young Omani engineers have designed the first Omani-trademarked laptop which will be available for pre-orders next week.
Founders of Onsor, the company behind the state-of-the-art device, Engineers Muadh bin Ahmed Al Hanai and Yazan Al Musafir said that the laptop’s price will be cost-effective.
“The prices of the laptop will be reasonable and at market average price or lower,” said Muadh.
Speaking to Al Wisal radio, he explained that it will be foldable to 360 degrees so it can be used as a touch-tab or a laptop.
“It has a built-in system that reads electronic ID cards in Oman to help users process government procedures,” Muadh said, adding that a 4G SIM card can be installed in it.
The project started in Sultan Qaboos University’s College on Engineering, where the duo used to design products and devices to cater to college students and engineers. “We then wanted to reach a wider audience through designing multiple laptops that cater to students and professionals,” he explained.
The team started designing the laptop last year in May 2019, and started manufacturing it in June 2020.
