The Earthquake Monitoring Committee at Sultan Qaboos University issued a statement, saying that an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.5 on the Richter scale, was recorded at 5:30 am today, in Wilayat Bidbid. The earthquake was 46 km away from the capital city of Muscat.
