Omani surgeon, Dr Shaden bint Zakaria Al Riyami became the first Middle Eastern surgeon to win the David Howard Award. Al Riyami is a vocal cord and ENT surgeon at Al-Nahda Hospital, and she received the award for the research she submitted to the Advanced Laryngeal and Vocal Cord Surgery Conference in London, titled “Nasal Esophageal Endoscopy”.
The esteemed doctor has a long list of accomplishments in the medical field, which include being the first and only surgeon in Oman to perform a successful vocal cord atrophy operation earlier this year.
