Doctors in Oman called on citizens and residents to get the third dose of the COVID vaccine, saying that there is an urgent need for it, due to the fast-spreading Omicron variant. They warned that two doses of the vaccine may only offer 30% protection against the new strain, which has already been detected in Oman.
An infectious disease expert at Sultan Qaboos University, said that taking the booster dose, raises the protection rate against infection with Omicron up to around 70-75%.
