Cyclone Biparjoy Update: Still No Direct Effects Expected in Oman Over the Next Three Days

The latest report from the National Committee for Emergency Management (NCEM) shows that Cyclone Biparjoy:

  • Will have no direct impact on Oman in the next three days
  • Is around 1020 km away from the Sultanate’s coast
  • Is still a category 1 cyclone but may intensify into a category 2 on Saturday, before decreasing to a category 1 on Sunday
  • Will most likely move into India or Pakistan and it may dissipate into the sea

*The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a high sea level warning, saying that maximum wave height will be between 3-5 meters along the coasts of South Al Sharqiyah, Al Wusta, and Dhofar. Fishermen and seagoers are asked to avoid venturing into the sea for the time being.
