Oman’s Minister of Health, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saeedi, has said that the Sultanate can expect to see a further rise in numbers of COVID-19 cases in the country over the coming days.
Speaking in an interview with Oman TV on Saturday [May 30], His Excellency said that “we expect to see an increase in cases in the coming days.”
Over the last week, Oman has seen a jump in the number of laboratory-confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus, with a record daily total of 811 recorded on Friday [May 29] and another 603 recorded yesterday [Saturday, May 30], bringing the total in the Sultanate to over 10,400.
During the interview, His Excellency the Minister of Health said that authorities took note of a number of reports of gatherings for Tarawih prayers and iftars during the Holy Month of Ramadan in spite of warnings against such actions.
