Speaking in an interview this afternoon [Monday, July 20] on Merge 104.8’s sister station Al Wisal, H.E. Dr. Al Hosni stated that stopping the spread of coronavirus depends on all individuals. “We don’t blame the citizens for the numbers, but we are depending on them,” he stated on-air.

“They are our only bet, as this situation will take a long time, and we want all citizens to be dependable for the future to help stop it.”

H.E. Dr. Al Hosni also stated that, while the number of deaths in the country due to COVID-19 did not exceed more than 0.5 per cent of overall cases, that this number is still unacceptable.

He also confirmed that the number of coronavirus cases contracted among medical personnel in the Sultanate has now crossed 600.

Finally, addressing rumours circulating among the public that the Royal Hospital has become an epidemic hot zone for infection, H.E. Dr. Al Hosni stated that: “We have not reached any stage where our hospitals in any area have become infected zones for COVID-19. The majority of COVID-19 patients are located in the Royal Hospital, with the number of critical cases in the facility now almost reaching 50.”
