COVID-19: Oman records 10,768 new cases, 9,086 recoveries in the last 7 days

As Oman’s rate of COVID-19 infection continues to surge, a total of 10,768 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the Sultanate in the last week alone, with 1,083 new cases today [Saturday, July 11] bringing the cumulative national total to 54,697.

However, new recoveries over the last seven days, between the period of July 4-11, 2020 have been close behind with a total of 9,086. As of today, 1,030 new recoveries announced brings the cumulative national total to 35,255.

The Sultanate has also witnessed 55 more deaths in the last week, with four recorded today bringing the total death toll in the country to 248. Of these, 127 fatalities have been among non-Omani residents, and 121 among Omani citizens.

As per inferences from the latest data on the Tarassud Plus app — Oman’s intuitive mobile app that tracks COVID-19 cases in the country per governorate and by Wilayat, nationwide, as of today, Muscat Governorate saw 405 new cases registered, bringing the total in the governorate to 32,465.

While the governorates of North and South Al Batinah saw the next highest surges in new cases on Saturday, with 274 in South Al Batinah bringing the total in the governorate to 5,701, and 170 in North Al Batinah for a total of 6,449 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the governorate.
