As Oman records 1,389 new cases of COVID-19 registered today [Tuesday, July 14] the total number of cases in the Sultanate has now reached 59,568.
Ministry of Health (MoH) authorities have also confirmed that COVID-19 recoveries in the Sultanate have risen by 730 on Tuesday for a total of 37,987, bringing Oman’s national recovery rate to 63.7 per cent of total cases.
The country also witnessed its highest number of coronavirus fatalities today, with 14 casualties raising the death toll to 273.
North Al Batinah recorded the highest daily tally of new cases today, with 419 new infections bringing the total in the governorate to 7,949. Among the Wilayats, Sohar saw a jump of 153 new cases today, bringing its total to 2,745.
The capital region of Muscat saw the second-highest daily figure with 405 new infections today — 196 of which were recorded in Seeb — for a total of 34,044 in the governorate. While, South Batinah registered 220 new cases for a total of 6,248.
As per inferences from the latest data on the Tarassud Plus app — Oman’s intuitive mobile app that tracks COVID-19 cases in the country per governorate and by Wilayat, the remaining breakdown of cases among the governorates is as follows:
The governorate of Al Dhakiliyah registered 123 new cases today, for a total of 3,239, followed by Dhofar with 85 new cases (total 2,052), Al Dhahirah with 44 new cases (total 1,063), North Ash Sharqiyah with 39 new cases (total 1,311), and South Ash Sharqiyah with 34 new cases (total 1,523.)
The governorates with the lowest numbers of confirmed new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday were Al Buraimi, which had 10 new cases for a total of 641, Al Wusta with 9 new cases (total 1,460), and Musandam with one new case (total 38).
