In a statement issued online today [Saturday, August 1], the Municipality said: “In the context of implementing the decisions of the Supreme Committee, and in the interest of ensuring compliance of commercial activities with those decisions, Muscat Municipality emphasizes that it is necessary to adhere to closing stores long before the evening ban on movement, and that legal measures will be taken against those in violation.”

In an effort to help stem the community spread of coronavirus, Oman’s Supreme Committee for COVID-19 announced a two-week nationwide lockdown starting July 25 until August 8, 2020, inclusive of a ban on movement and commercial activity between the hours of 7:00 p.m. till 6:00 a.m.
