COVID-19: Oman marks record highest number of new cases Monday at 2,164

Oman’s Ministry of Health (MoH) has announced the registration of 2,164 new cases of COVID-19 novel coronavirus in the Sultanate — the highest daily tally recorded to date.

In a statement issued online today [Monday, July 13], the MoH has confirmed that the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 58,179, while 1,159 new recoveries bring the total number of patients in the country who are now virus-free to 37,257.

Of the new cases announced today, 1,572 are among Omani citizens and 592 are among non-Omani residents. 

The MoH has also confirmed that the number of COVID-19 fatalities now stands at 259 with 2 new deaths announced today, while the number of coronavirus patients hospitalized in Oman stands at 519, with 146 in ICU.

As of today, a total of 6,173 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the Sultanate in the last 24 hours.
