In a statement issued online, the GC has reiterated that such rumours are false, and that the cost of the fee to obtain the permit card is only OMR 1.

This card can be used for transport vehicles to travel across governorates during the day-time between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Only those transport vehicles carrying foodstuffs, cooking gas, and fuel in trucks over and above three tons are allowed to obtain the permit card.

As per the GC, using the card to transport any other types of goods is considered a violation to the decisions of the Supreme Committee and those violators will be subject to prosecution.

Lastly, in its statement, the GC has indicated that no passengers are to be allowed to accompany the driver in those transport vehicles permitted to cross between governorates.
